Letena Restaurant & Tarik Areke Distillery is an Ethiopian restaurant and craft micro-distillery in Columbia Heights, Washington, D.C. Open since 2016, Letena has built a loyal following around authentic Ethiopian cuisine and hospitality rooted in East African tradition. In 2025, the restaurant expanded into spirits production with Tarik Areke Distillery, a federally licensed (TTB DSP-DC-20016) and DC ABCA-permitted micro-distillery operating on-site. Tarik Areke produces small-batch Areke spirits inspired the traditional Ethiopian spirit, named in tribute to founder's grandmother, Tarik, of Gojam, Ethiopia. The current lineup spans six expressions, Reserve, Classic, Anise, Cinnamon, Pineapple, and Coffee,  each bottled at 40% ABV, bridging Ethiopian heritage distilling with modern craft spirits production for the U.S. market.
