Founded in 1881 and reopened in 2001 in the western part of the Hebridean island of Islay, Bruichladdich Distillery Company is a progressive single malt Scotch whisky and gin distillery with a rich and diverse heritage. The distillery produces three whisky brands: Bruichladdich, unpeated single malt Scotch whisky; Port Charlotte, heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky; and Octomore, super heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky, but their ambitions go beyond whisky. In 2010, the distillery founded The Botanist Islay Dry Gin, a craft gin distilled with a unique combination of 22 wild Islay botanicals that are hand-foraged locally and sustainably on the island by The Botanist's professional foragers, James Donaldson and Kate Hannett. In 2020, Bruichladdich was the first Scotch whisky and gin distillery in Europe to receive B Corp certification - meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance. The distillery continues to put their home, the island of Islay, at the heart of everything they do.
