The USA beverage market is overflowing with choices and adding a new spirit to an importer’s portfolio is never a simple decision. Every bottle must prove its worth and brands must perform at retail. This is where Kontapel stands out.
A solid founder-driven brand which is now ready to expand into the United States, comes with great support in marketing and offers importers a unique opportunity to start importing in small batches.
USA State distributors can also start working with the brand as Kontapel will begin to use the self-distribution model to get started in the US market. USA State distributors can pick the product from the USA location and sell it in the respective states. Distributors looking to get pricing and samples can register interest here.
Founded in 2018 by the Pelekh brothers—Roman and Andrii Pelekh—Kontapel is the only brand in the world producing Kontabas, a once-forgotten Ukrainian spirit with noble roots. Kontapel’s story begins deep in a cellar in Zakarpattia, where a 90-liter batch of 1993 Kontabas and an 18th-century recipe book sparked a movement. With nothing but a notebook filled with fragmented knowledge of this lost tradition, the Pelekh brothers set out to bring back a piece of Ukrainian heritage that vanished nearly a century ago.
For many, Ukraine is synonymous with vodka. Decades of Russian influence erased much of the country’s native spirits, and Kontabas was nearly lost to history. Yet long before that, in the 17th century, this exquisite beverage was a drink of Ukrainian nobility—a refined, complex spirit treasured for its immensely intricate craftsmanship. Now, Kontapel isn’t just reviving Kontabas; it’s restoring a forgotten identity, bringing back a lost tradition, and sharing it with the world at a time when Ukrainian culture matters to it the most.
Kontapel
Kontapel is not just another brand—it is a movement, a story, a legacy in a bottle. Currently led by veteran Roman Pelekh and his wife, Maryna Pelekh, the brand is looking for U.S. importers and distributors who believe in more than just numbers—who believe in craft, culture, and a truly one-of-a-kind spirit.
If you’re looking to add something genuinely unique to your portfolio—something that stands on its own with no direct competitors—this is your opportunity to introduce the soul of Ukraine to the U.S. market.
